Industrial material cargo experience
Stainless steel cargo reference for trade and logistics planning
Technical cargo such as tube, plate and coil often requires clear standards, inspection documents and logistics planning before shipment. These pages show the material context we can interpret during an advisory engagement.

Applications first, then specifications
Applications come first because they determine standards, certificates, finish expectations, packing and inspection timing.
Machine frames and guarding
Square and rectangular tube for load-bearing frames, platforms, conveyors and equipment guards.
Process and transfer piping
Round and sanitary tube for latex transfer, water lines, CIP-ready piping and fluid handling.
Tanks and vessels
Plate and coil for dip tanks, coagulation tanks, drums, vessel skins and fabricated panels.
Hygienic wetted parts
Polished sanitary tube and sheet for latex-contact surfaces where cleaning and corrosion resistance matter.
Cargo forms we can assess
Tube, hollow sections and flat products create different packing, inspection, documentation and handling questions.
Tube and hollow section
4 forms
Welded hollow section
Core cargo typeStainless Steel Square Tube
Welded square hollow sections are commonly reviewed for machine frames, structural supports and guarding. Quotation checks should cover the applicable standard, grade, dimensions, weld condition, finish and tolerance requirements.

Welded tube
Core cargo typeStainless Steel Round Tube
Welded round-tube cargo can cover structural, ornamental and process duties, from machine framework to fluid-transfer lines. The applicable standard, grade, finish and inspection scope should be matched to the intended use.

Welded hollow section
Stainless Steel Rectangular Tube
Welded rectangular hollow sections are commonly considered for load-bearing frames and platforms where a wider profile is needed than square tube. Review section dimensions, wall thickness, finish and structural requirements against the project use.

Hygienic tube
Stainless Steel Sanitary Tube
Sanitary welded-tube cargo is commonly specified for wetted, latex-contact and CIP process lines. Quotation review should confirm the applicable sanitary standard, grade, bore finish, surface-roughness requirement, tolerances and inspection documents.
Plate, sheet and coil
2 forms
Hot-rolled flat product
Stainless Steel Plate
Hot-rolled plate is commonly specified for dip tanks, coagulation tanks, vessels and heavy structural parts. Review the grade, governing standard, thickness tolerance, surface condition, test certificates and handling requirements.

Cold-rolled flat product
Stainless Steel Coil & Sheet
Cold-rolled coil, strip and sheet are commonly used for tank skins, panels, formers and fabricated components. Review width, thickness, finish, slit or sheet format, packaging and handling requirements before quotation.
Certification and inspection
Documentation is part of the logistics risk. We define material standard, certificate type and inspection method before shipment.
MTC EN 10204 3.1
Heat-level test results for procurement and engineering review.
Material standards
ASTM A240 / A554 / A270 and JIS G4304 / G4305 / G3447.
Third-party inspection
When inspection is required, confirm the qualified third-party provider, inspection scope and pre-shipment timing for the project.
PMI option
Where grade confirmation is required, define the PMI scope and timing before dispatch.
Grade cross-reference
Technical standards are kept readable so procurement, inspection and logistics parties work from the same reference.
| Common | ASTM / UNS | JIS | EN |
|---|---|---|---|
| 304 | 304 / S30400 | SUS304 | 1.4301 |
| 304L | 304L / S30403 | SUS304L | 1.4307 |
| 316 | 316 / S31600 | SUS316 | 1.4401 |
| 316L | 316L / S31603 | SUS316L | 1.4404 |
| 430 | 430 / S43000 | SUS430 | 1.4016 |
| 201 | 201 / S20100 | SUS201 | 1.4372 |
EN 10204 3.1 is a certificate standard. Material standards and certificate requirements are kept separate on every quotation.
Reference grades we can review
Dual-labelled ASTM / JIS designations help procurement, engineering and advisory teams read the same specification.
201 / SUS201
Austenitic
Chromium-manganese austenitic grade with reduced nickel. A budget option for decorative tube and indoor parts; corrosion resistance is below 304, so confirm the service environment first.
304 / SUS304
Austenitic
The workhorse austenitic grade. Good corrosion resistance and formability for general processing equipment, frames and tanks.
316 / SUS316
Austenitic
Molybdenum-bearing grade with superior resistance to chlorides and acids. Default where latex preservation (ammonia) or aggressive media are involved.
430 / SUS430
Ferritic
Ferritic, magnetic and nickel-free. Economical for decorative and dry-environment structural parts where chloride exposure is low.
304L / SUS304L
Austenitic
Low-carbon 304 for improved weldability. Resists sensitization at welds and is preferred for welded tube and fabricated equipment.
316L / SUS316L
Austenitic
Low-carbon 316. The first choice for hygienic process piping and wetted parts in latex and food-grade equipment.
Handling questions before shipment
The advisory work connects material details with practical logistics decisions.
Can the cargo be bundled, crated or wrapped without surface damage?
Which certificates must be ready before final payment or dispatch?
Does the route require inspection before loading or at destination?
Are dimensions, weight and unloading conditions clear for the receiving site?
Case Study
RRT is a German machinery manufacturer specializing in the design and production of advanced condom manufacturing equipment. Since October 2025, RRT placed two procurement orders for 316L and 304 stainless steel square tubes required for machinery production.
